Image generation — a whole design studio in a text box.

Brand visuals, ad creative, thumbnails, product shots, mockups — generated and edited from plain language. This is the fastest way to add a high-value, visible service to your freelance offer.

You no longer need a camera, a studio, or a stock-photo budget to deliver professional visuals. You need a clear eye and a good prompt. The eye is the part that still belongs to you.— The Evolve Method
The landscape

What you're actually using in 2026.

The leading consumer image tool right now is Google's Nano Banana, accessed inside the Gemini app. Two versions matter: Nano Banana 2 (the current default — Pro-level quality at fast speed, supporting 512px up to 4K) and Nano Banana Pro (highest fidelity, excellent text rendering, and blending of many reference images for polished, production-ready output).

Others exist — Midjourney for stylised art, and image tools built into other assistants — but the workflow you'll learn here transfers to all of them. The skill isn't the button you press; it's how you describe, iterate, and direct.

Your first generation, step by step

1
Open the tool

In the Gemini app, choose the image / "Create images" tool, then pick a mode — Fast for quick drafts, Pro for final, client-ready output.

2
Use the core prompt formula

Start simple and build: [subject] + [action] + [scene] + [style] + [lighting] + [framing]. e.g. "A ceramic coffee mug on a pale oak table, soft morning light from the left, shallow depth of field, minimalist product photo."

3
Iterate by conversation

Don't restart — refine. "Make it warmer." "Shift to night." "Move the mug right and add steam." Editing in plain language is where the speed comes from.

4
Use reference images

Upload a brand colour, a product, or a face and ask the model to match it. Modern models hold consistency across images — vital for a client's brand or a repeating character.

5
Set the right size

Generate in the aspect ratio you'll actually ship: square for feed posts, 9:16 for Reels and Stories, wide for banners. Then export at high resolution.

Use it for paying work — fast

Logo and brand-direction drafts · social media creative · YouTube/Reel thumbnails · website hero images · product mockups · ad variations to A/B test. Each of these is a service a freelancer can charge for today.

Cautions

Three things that keep you professional.

Disclosure & authenticity. AI images from these tools carry invisible provenance markers (SynthID) and content credentials. Don't pass AI work off as a real photograph where that matters, and never generate deceptive images of real people or events.

Commercial rights. Confirm the licensing terms of whatever tool you use before selling output to a client — terms differ and change. Brand accuracy. Models can mangle logos and fine text, so always proof anything client-facing pixel by pixel.

Images are the surface. Claude is the brain.

Next you'll learn the tool that writes, researches, strategises, codes, and directs every other tool in this kit — including the prompts you just learned.
